Non–steady state thermometry with optical diffraction tomography

Our work on label-free measuring of temperature profiles has been published in Science Advances!

Measuring temperature reliably at the nano- and micro-scale is key for both basic and applied research across various disciplines like photocatalysis, photothermal therapy, drug delivery, microfluidic trapping, and vibrational spectroscopy. Nevertheless, the non-propagative nature of heat makes accurate temperature measurements challenging; thus, motivating the development of new methods. In this work, we developed a pump-probe optical diffraction tomography approach that meets this challenge. Specifically, our approach 3D maps the temperature profile from nanoscopic heat sources precisely and accurately under both steady and non- steady states and opens the possibility to perform time-resolved measurements
